Tignesie TotsSnowman in Tignes

Where To Stay

Tignes is a large resort with many accommodation options. You shouldn’t have too much trouble finding what you need but it is always advisable to book early.

This page will take you through the pros and cons of staying in a catered chalet, a self catering apartment or a hotel from a family’s point of view and from our experience.

We cannot recommend one company or establishment over another but all of the accommodations listed below have been given the thumbs up when our clients were asked for feedback.

You may find this map of Tignes useful in locating a particular area. It's a PDF document, so you may need to get Adobe Reader for free from their website.

Catered chalets

If you like to have your meals prepared for you and your bed made each day then a catered chalet provides all the services you need in order to have a relaxing holiday. You must be aware however that your nanny will be unable to use the chalet’s kitchen facilities for your children as we are not covered by their insurance. This means lunches have to be kept simple and cooking activities are not possible. Generally Tignesie Tots nannies have been given permission to use the microwave particularly for heating bottles and baby food. We have become very creative at meal times and have managed to offer a range of healthy foods that do not need to be cooked and your nanny will happily purchase foods for lunch times from the local supermarket. It is necessary that you mention to your ski company that you will be employing a private nanny through Tignesie Tots and that we will follow whatever guidelines are given to us.

Here is a list of ski companies that we have worked with in the past.
• Snowstar www.snowstarholidays.com
• Ski Total www.skitotal.com
• Ski World www.skiworld.ltd.uk
• Neilson www.neilson.co.uk/ski
• Alpine Elements www.alpineelements.co.uk (NB we are not providing a service in Les Brevieres this year)

The only company that we are aware of that will not allow us, or indeed any external nanny, to work in their chalets is Ski Olympic.

Self Catering Accommodation

If you enjoy the flexibility of enjoying your holiday at your own pace and not being restricted to meal times and other ‘rules’ then you have by far the most accommodation to chose from. There are now a number of different restaurants/eateries where you can ‘take out’ food or have it delivered, so if you don’t fancy cooking each evening then there are other options. Apartments are the perfect setting for a Tignesie Tots nanny to work in as we can manage the children’s day as required by you. Lunches can be made in the kitchen, cookery and art activities can be carried out without permission from chalet staff and children can sleep without being woken by someone hoovering!

Here is a list of companies whose apartments we have worked in.
• Chalet Planton (Le Lac) www.chaletplanton.com

Hotels

If you enjoy long days on the slopes with the added luxury of a spa or sauna at the end of your day then staying in a hotel may suit you best. In our experience hotel rooms vary greatly in size but it is usually the least hospitable environment in which to care for children as you often have to rely on having good weather to prevent ‘cabin fever’! There are no catering facilities available for you or your nanny so lunches have to be taken in a restaurant. Messy activities such as arts and crafts and cookery may have to be limited due to space available and not having the right facilities to hand. Depending on the location of your room within the hotel it may be necessary for you to have a babysitter so that you can enjoy a meal in the restaurant. This obviously increases the cost of your holiday and it is not guaranteed that a nanny will be available every night.

Here is a list of hotels that we have worked in.
• Village Montana includes a hotel, suites and apartments all in Les Almes area of Le Lac www.vmontana.com
• Hotel Campanules is a family run establishment located centrally in Le Lac www.campanules.com
• Hotel Diva is well located in Le Lac, www.hoteldiva-tignes.com
• Levanna is right next to the nursery in Le Lac www.levanna.com
