Hi! After qualifying in 1992 I spent the first 9 years of my career as a nanny,
caring for children from newborn to teenage years. During the later years I was
asked to accompany a family on their skiing holidays to the French Alps and it
was there that I discovered my passion for skiing and love of the mountains.
In December 2001, when the family didn’t need childcare anymore I decided to live
in the mountains and I worked for a large ski company. I provided childcare in
the creche and in the chalets. It was a great experience and gave me the
opportunity to improve my skiing, which I needed!
For the past two winters I have been a nanny and chalet assistant for a family
who have a ski chalet the 3 Valleys ski area, which was great fun.
When I am not in France I have always returned to a day nursery, where they’ve
welcomed me back each year! I really enjoy working with all age groups, and its
lovely to see how the children grow up and progress.
I am really looking forward to having lots of fun with the children who are
coming to Tignes this year. I am also hoping to improve my skiing too!

Donna Finnis
Having been a big hit with children and parents alike, we're delighted to have
Donna back with us for the 2007/2008 season. This season Donna has been gaining
more experience with babies, toddlers and children with special needs showing
that she has a natural talent for working with children. Here's something about
her in her own words, and you can use the links below to look at some of her

In 2006, following a career in dentistry for 10 years, I made the decision to
follow my dream and move my life to the Alps. I wanted a different lifestyle,
and after spending many hours either in the car or in the office each day, I
decided that it was time to make a change!
My passion for skiing began at the age of 13, and really took off in 2000 as I
took the first training level as a ski instructor. I am now the proud owner of
a BASI Alpine Ski Instructor qualification! Since 2000 I worked part time as an
activity instructor for an outdoor education centre in Kent, allowing me to
teach skiing, work with children in problem solving activities, and watch their
talent shows! For a number of years I also represented Sports and Educational
Travel, as a school holiday ski guide, and since 2006 as head guide. Both my
roles have been great fun with amazing experiences - whilst being responsible
for the safety, fun and learning of the children, I have had such a great time.
I started working for Tignesie Tots in December 2006, and I feel so lucky and
proud to be able provide individual childcare in Tignes. We are able to get to
know the children quickly and tailor their holiday to their interests. We bring
something new every day, such as painting, books, toys, and games. And we have
brilliant surroundings and have great fun playing outdoors - snowy pony rides
around the frozen lake, ice skating, snowman making, sledging, the ice caves,
visiting the huskies, and riding in the cab of the funicular with the train
drivers!
This season I am looking forward to more smiles and laughter...and celebrating my
30th!

about her.

In 2005 I moved from Australia to New Zealand to experience life in the snow and
the opportunity to work in a ski resort. I loved every moment of it, so much so
that I decided to do another season the following year but this time in
Australia.
I've since spent time in Sydney as an out-of-hours care teacher at a school,
providing activities and care for children aged 4-10 years, as well as
one-on-one care for children with Downs Syndrome and Autism - a very
challenging role but immensely rewarding.
This year I've been travelling in South America before coming to London to work
as a nanny where I've cared for two children aged 11 and 13 for a family in
Chiswick, and also cared for a boy with Downs Syndrome.
It has always been my dream to work in the Alps so I am really excited to be
coming to France for the winter, and looking forward to enjoying both caring
for the children that come out on holiday and, of course, the snowboarding.

Janna Tratt
Also joining the team for winter 2007/2008, here are a few words from Janna.

After graduating in 2002 with a BA in Early Childhood Studies, I spent the summer
working for a tour operator as a nanny and children's club leader in Greece.
This led me on to my first winter season and indeed my first time on skis. I
fell in love with skiing and have not looked back since. I then went on to do a
further 2 winter seasons working in the French Alps, where the role included
setting up the creche at the beginning of the season, planning and implementing
lots of fun, age-appropriate activities, taking children to and from ski school
as well as babysitting in the evening. I always had a fantastic time with the
children and really enjoyed working in the mountains.
From the summer of 2006 I worked as a sole-charge private nanny for a family in
central London. I cared for a 2 and a half year old girl and a 12 month old
boy, and from May 2007 I cared for a newborn girl. Mum's now decided to stay at
home and I've sadly left this job in November 2007.
I am now really looking forward to working in the mountains again after two years
away. I'm hoping to have lots of fun with the children I'll look after as well
as improving my skiing - and I might even try to master snowboarding.

I am 24 year old New Zealander and have been in the UK since August 2007. I am a nurse by trade but whilst I am working abroad I am enjoying working as a nanny. I really love caring for children and throughout my nursing career I have had a lot of peadiatric experience so am very experienced at dealing with emergencies. My experience ranges from newborn to teenagers, I can relate well to all age groups and I have had experience as a sole charge nanny. I am kind, caring and flexible in accommodating the individual needs of families and their children. I am honest, reliable and always professional. I have just finished a nannying position in Scotland caring for 3 boys so I am prepared for cold weather!
Having grown up in New Zealand I love the mountains and have spent lots of time rolling around in the snow. I am looking forward to improving my snow boarding skills and having lots of fun with your children in the mountains.
